Brilliant collection of stories to enjoy and read more than once.

The stories work so well read together in one go, or individually as stand-alone short stories in their own right, which is a powerful combination. It’s easy to read this book quickly in one sitting, but you find yourself drawn back to re-reading your favourite stories. My personal favourites are Hotel Argo, Born in a Fire and The Tall Owl. Well-written, clever, vivid and powerful. I’d really recommend this collection to anyone who loves a good story by the fire on a cold winter’s night!

A fascinating collection of short stories!

This book includes 10 short stories. Each one completely unique and different to anything I’ve very read before. The storylines were original as were the characters. I liked each story and they were so well written I wanted to read more about the characters and what happened next. The stories that left a lasting impression on me in particular were Born In A Fire and The Tall Owl. I really connected with the character of Sally from Born In A Fire and would happily read a whole novel based on her story.

I’m really enjoying reading short stories at the minute and this has become one of my favourite books. If you’re looking for a book of short stories than I’d highly recommend this book.

I received a gifted copy of this book for an honest review.

Great stories. Great characters.

This is a fantastic collection of individual short stories. Beautifully crafted, descriptive and thought provoking. Each story stands alone and I found this an easy book to take up and read as the mood took me although there were a couple of times I tried to put it down and found myself too curious and within 5 minutes had it back in my hands.

Highly recommend this collection to anyone. Well worth a read.

The writing is clear and powerful, and the author does a brilliant job of realizing a diverse array of characters in these ten stories.

Within the pages of The Tall Owl: and Other Stories, side by side, bumping against each other and jostling for space, are characters in different parts of the world, with different motivations and facing different problems, with different destinations but all moved by the momentum of the heart.
