Description
Happiness, pain, breakup, lies, lust and laughter. This collection tackles the ups and downs of relationships including the darkness and depression that is seldom spoken of. Mackenzie addresses the despair, isolation and loss experienced during break ups.
But it isn’t all doom and gloom, with the lows come the highs and humour to keep us going. Many of the poems marvel at the uplift and liberation of new or passionate love.
Tangled Light contains poems and songs about the vast spectrum of love that we can all relate to.

A foray into the shadows!

When it comes to songs of love and loss, look no further than Tom Rush’s ‘No Regrets’, Bill Withers’ ‘Hope She’ll Be Happier’ or LL Cool J’s ‘I Need Love’. There’s a new contender on the block! A collection of songs and poems from the mind of Brian Mackenzie was a hugely enjoyable way to pass the time here and there, particularly when I felt like a foray into the shadows. Often dark but never without hope and humour and with that, there’s a glimmer of (tangled) light in the gloom. Highly recommended.

This is a real pleasure to read. I love the wit and melancholy in the poetry but there’s also some uplifting pieces. Particularly like the title poem “Tangled Light”. Some real gems

Scotland’s new Robbie Burns
I was very impressed by some of the poems in this book. It is a fine piece of work from a very original poet. I look forward to seeing more from Brian Mackenzie.

I think Scotland has found its new Robbie Burns, even though he lives in Spain! I am mesmerised by some of the poems in Brian Mackenzie’s book “Tangled Light”. Brian, I congratulate you. A fine piece of work and well worth the money. Let me know the next time you are over in the UK – we’ll meet up for a few!.
