‘Atmospheric and evocative’ | Judas: The Man Behind the Myth, by John Thompson

An interesting interpretation regarding the role of Judas which provides believable and feasible motivations for his actions. The story is from the point of view of another individual, Nehemiah. Through his role in the story, Nehemiah has links to both the religious leaders and Christ and his followers. This helps to give a balanced viewpoint of the background undercurrents and motivations. The story appears well researched and achieves a fictionalised interpretation of biblical events. It is not a mere repetition of the New Testament or bible thumping/bashing but puts events into a context/language modern readers can understand and visualise. The tale gives an alternative ending to the bible story as we know it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I really enjoyed this story, it is both atmospheric and evocative. The attention to detail had me believe that I was part of the fabric of the tale. The book is so well written that I found myself wondering if this was not the way events truly happened.

I couldn’t put it down once I had started it.

I thought most of it very much like the bible, quite liked the different ending for Judas. As a Christian found the ending for Jesus not as I believe, but it is just a story. The book was very well written with each page enticing you into reading the next. I would recommend this to anyone with an open mind. Definitely a good read.

Judas: The man behind the myth paints a fictional picture of Judas. The story is related by Nehemiah. It is through Nehemiah, that Judas meets Yeshua (Jesus of Nazareth). But as the teachings of Yeshua begin to threaten the beliefs of the Pharisees, Nehemiah and Judas are caught in the middle of a conflict that threatens to destroy all they have come to believe in.
